The Rotary Club of Bal Harbour and Bal Harbour Police Department are excited to announce that our 9th Annual 5K Race/Walk will be held on Sunday, February 8th, 2026. This event is a major fundraiser for the Chief Mark N. Overton and Chief Miguel “Mike” De La Rosa Scholarship Fund, which provides academic or police academy scholarships for those aspiring to a career in law enforcement or pursuing an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice or Public Administration. Packet pick-up will be held on Saturday, February 7th from 3 pm to 6 pm at Bal Harbour Waterfront Park, 18 Bal Bay Drive, Bal Harbour, FL 33154. You may pick up a packet for a friend or family member there. It is strongly encouraged to attend packet pick-up to avoid long lines and large crowds on race day. This chip-timed race with age group awards offers you the chance to make a direct impact on the essential services we provide, from long-term residential care to community integration support and groundbreaking therapeutic programs. Through our comprehensive care model, Lakewood Center empowers adults living with serious mental illness to grow, thrive, and achieve greater independence. Every step you take brings us closer to a future where mental health is embraced, understood, and supported by all. Day of event schedule: 6:30 a.m. - Registration & Pre-Registration Opens, 8:00 a.m. - 5K Race Start. Tee shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered participants. Once a shirt is sold out you will see sold out. Shirts are not guaranteed on race day. The race starts and ends at the same location. Race will be timed and scored with a disposable chip provided, which will be attached to the back of the bib. FAQ: The 5K is 3.1 miles. The race uses an electronic timing system that records race time and place via a transponder chip that will be given out at registration. Each individual competing in the 5K is required to use the race chip. Official times will not be recorded without a chip. There will be a clock at the finish line to view your time. Official results are posted for the top runners in each category. Race staff has all results for on-site inquiries and results are posted on the race website. You cannot use your own race chip or tag; you will be provided with a custom chip. Only pre-registered runners that successfully complete the registration and payment processes are guaranteed a race t-shirt. Qualified emergency medical professionals are available to provide assistance at the start/finish lines. Dogs are allowed. Strollers are allowed; please start in the latter part of the runners. You may bring your own water, but there will be a water station on the course and at the finish. There are no refunds and entries are non-transferable. The race is a rain or shine event. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. Umbrellas are not allowed due to safety concerns.
