Flower Mound, Texas (United States of America) - "DFW Burning Soles Trail Series (Race 1)". The hottest racing in town is bringing a new heat to the DFW metroplex with the Burning Soles Trail Series. Beginning this June and running through August, compete in a 5K or 10K series over 8 weeks this summer, alternating trails between Northshore Trail in Flower Mound and Erwin Park in McKinney to keep things fresh week to week. Trails will be well marked, with a lively and exciting finish line atmosphere, featuring some of the best singletrack trails in North Texas. Races will be chip timed for all participants, and when you arrive for your first race, you will be assigned and given a runner’s bib for the series—bring that bib back with you each time you race. The schedule switches weekly to provide great off-road racing opportunities of varying technical capabilities. The series kickoff and finale will be held at the Northshore Trail MADD Shelter, and two rain dates per round are included to accommodate rescheduling if needed. Round 1 includes Race 1 on June 4 at Northshore, Race 2 on June 11 at Erwin Park, Race 3 on June 18 at Northshore, Race 4 on June 25 at Erwin Park, with Rain Dates on July 9 and July 17. Each weekly race will award the top 3 male and female finishers for each distance, with age groups also recognized on the podium. At the end of the 8-week series, final awards will recognize the top 3 in each division. Racers from both 5K and 10K distances will be on the course at the same time, with 10K racers getting a 45-minute head start to ensure spacing. Distances are approximate and may vary based on trail conditions. The DFW Series provides local, accessible, and family-friendly trail races focused on community building and volunteer efforts. The trails are maintained by the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit—consider becoming a DORBA member for just $40 per year to support their work on 28 trails and over 265 miles of singletrack. There are no refunds for the Burning Soles Trail Series, but transfers to alternate dates are accepted if needed.
