Waterford City, Munster (Ireland) - "Waterford Viking Marathon". The Waterford Viking Marathon returns, bringing you one of Ireland’s most unique and scenic race experiences, alongside the ever inclusive Waterford Viking Run for All, our dedicated Disability Friendly Event. This year’s action kicks off on Saturday 20th June with the Waterford Viking Kids Run at the Waterford RSC. Starting at 9:30am, this fun and welcoming event is open to children aged 6 and up. It is all about participation and enjoyment, with every child receiving a medal. On Sunday 21st June, the spotlight turns to the main event. Lace up your runners and step into history in Ireland’s oldest city. Founded by Vikings in 914 AD, Waterford offers a race like no other, where every step tells a story. Whether you are taking on the full marathon, half marathon, or 10K, you will journey through a city steeped in heritage. Pass iconic landmarks like Reginald's Tower and explore the historic Viking Triangle, all while soaking up the electric race day atmosphere. The route also treats runners to the stunning beauty of the River Suir and the Waterford Greenway, combining breathtaking scenery with a fast, enjoyable course. Marathon and half marathon participants will experience the spectacular grounds of Mount Congreve Gardens, one of the Great Gardens of the World, a truly unforgettable highlight. Adding to the excitement, our 10K Viking Run invites participants to embrace the spirit of the day. Dress as a Viking, bring the energy, and enjoy Europe’s largest Viking themed run, complete with incredible entertainment and a festival style finish line.
