Belle Isle, Florida (United States of America) - "AWYS Lace-Up To Buckle-Up 5K Run / Walk". The Always Wear Your Seatbelt Foundation is proud to announce the 10th Annual Lace-Up to Buckle-Up 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Cornerstone Charter Academy, 5903 Randolph Ave, Belle Isle, FL 32809. Day-of registration and packet pick-up begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by an extra-special opening ceremony at 8:35 a.m. at the bus. The 5K runners will start at 9:00 a.m., and children on bikes or scooters will start the 5K at 8:58 a.m. The race mission is to raise seatbelt safety awareness and honor the memory of Laura Grant and Eddie Culberhouse, with 100% of net proceeds going towards the scholarship fund to educate teens on always wearing their seatbelt. Entry fees vary by age and registration date: adults pay $35 through September 30th, $40 from October 1st-17th, and $45 on race day; youth ages 13-19 pay $20, $30, and $35 respectively; youth ages 7-10 pay $10 through race day; children ages 0-6 enter free but do not receive a shirt (shirts may be purchased for $8). Virtual and in-person entries include a unisex super-soft blend race t-shirt, bib, and number, with virtual entries also receiving packet shipping. Packet pickup is on October 16, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Vanbarry’s Public House, 4120 S. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL, where the OneBlood mobile donation bus will be present. Virtual participants must register by October 1 to guarantee receipt of shirts and bibs before race day. Race t-shirts are guaranteed until sold out, and in-person participants must pick them up at packet pickup or the event. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & older. The 5K is held in-person with a virtual option available. Parking is free at Cornerstone Charter Academy and nearby areas. Virtual participants should select the virtual option during registration and use the RACEJOY app to track their run and upload results. Participants are encouraged to share their experience on social media using @alwayswearyourseatbelt and #AWYSbuckleup25. The 5K course is 3.1 miles, and all registered in-person runners wearing a bib will be electronically timed, with results posted online. Pre-registered in-person runners who complete registration seven weekdays before the race are guaranteed a t-shirt; virtual race shirts are shipped based on registration date, with no guarantee for registrations after October 8. Registration includes the official 2025 race bib and t-shirt. Water, fruit, and giveaways from AWYS and sponsors will be provided onsite.
