The Rose of the Shires Ultra is one of our flagship events, providing crazy runners with a sensibly priced race in the heart of Northamptonshire. This circular route will take you through an area renowned as the second garden of England OK Kent, you beat us to first place! Along the way, you will enjoy 54-miles of incredible scenery, country trails, roads and towpaths. Featuring around three-quarters trails with the rest being road, Rose of the Shires starts and finishes at Brixworth Country Park, where there is plenty of room for parking. Found just 20 minutes drive from the M1, this is the perfect starting point for a race which is really easy in terms of planning and logistics because of its one loop format. The route passes through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside, including two stunning country parks, Salcey Forest, the Grand Union Canal and 21 pretty villages and towns. The New River Trail Races are 100% dirt, flat, and entirely along the New River and Chestnut Creek in the New River Trail State Park. Each distance is an out and back course. The schedule for the race: 4:00 am 100k Start (8:00 pm cutoff), 8:00 am 50k Start (5:00 pm cutoff), 8:30 am 10k Start (5:00 pm cutoff), 9:00 am 25k Start (5:00 pm cutoff). Start Line Address: 321 Firehouse Road Fries VA. An early start at 7:30 am will be offered for 25k and 50k runners who feel that they will need more time to complete the race. 100k Finishers receive a buckle! This remarkable event challenges up to 45 teams of two or three ultrarunners - running together as duos or trios for the duration, NOT in a relay - to tackle an unimaginable traverse of Southern California deserts and mountains. The route covers 81 miles (130km) from Salton City (elevation 234 feet / 71m below sea level) to Palomar Mountain, the almost tallest mountain in San Diego County (elevation 5500 feet / 1676m.) Eight of the 81 race miles pass through Anza-Borrego State Park on a single track trail known as the California Riding and Hiking Trail from near Borrego Springs to near Ranchita, creating a race route which is a mix of road and trail.
