Moshi (Tanzania) - "Kilimanjaro Marathon". Situated south of the equator at 5895 metres, Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and the highest free standing mountain in the world (as it is not part of a mountain range). The sheer presence of this huge mountain dominates the entire area. Every year, at the end of February / beginning March, a marathon, a half marathon and a 5km fun run will be held in the town of Moshi. This race has been set up to promote the sport in Tanzania, and has the official backing of the Tanzania Tourist Board, the Tanzania Amateur Athletics Association, the IAAF, and is registered with AIMS. www.kilimanjaromarathon.com

Sežana (Slovenia) - "Mali Kraški Maraton". All courses start and finish in the Sežana Sports Park. The Half Marathon course will take place on the streets of Sežana and then continue along the asphalt road to Lipica where state border between Slovenia and Italy will be crossed. The course will lead from Bazovica (Basovizza) to Padriče (Padriciano) and Trebče (Trebiciano) and then through Orlek and back to Sežana. The course is almost entirely an asphalt one. The Karst 10 course (10 km) leads from Sežana, through the Living Museum of Karst (well-kept macadam road) and back to Sežana. www.kraskimaraton.si
